SAREE CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Every Kahanni saree is more than a garment — it’s a story handwoven with heritage, emotion, and time.
To keep your saree as vibrant and beautiful as the day you received it, we recommend the following care guidelines:
1. First Wash
- For the very first wash, we highly recommend dry cleaning only.
- This helps preserve the colour, texture, and weave integrity of your saree, especially for delicate or richly dyed fabrics.
2. General Washing
- Prefer dry cleaning for most of our handcrafted and handloom sarees.
- If washing at home (for specific cotton sarees only): Use cold water. Hand wash separately with a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid soaking the saree for long durations.
3. Drying
- Dry in shade to prevent fading.
- Avoid direct sunlight and never wring the fabric.
- Hang the saree on a padded hanger or dry it flat to avoid stretching delicate fibers.
4. Ironing
- Use a medium-heat iron setting.
- For delicate weaves or zari work, place a cotton cloth over the saree before ironing.
- Always iron on the reverse side to retain sheen and texture.
5. Storage
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
- For sarees with zari or embellishments: Wrap in muslin or pure cotton cloth. Avoid plastic covers as they can trap moisture and damage the fabric.
- Refold your sarees every 3 months to prevent fabric stress and fading lines.
6. Handling Tips
- Avoid spraying perfume directly on the saree.
- Keep sharp accessories or jewelry away while draping to prevent snags.
- Be gentle while pleating or pinning — use fabric-friendly safety pins if necessary.
Special Note
Each Kahanni saree is crafted by skilled artisans using time-honoured techniques. Slight variations in colour or weave are part of its charm and authenticity — no two pieces are exactly alike. With the right care, your saree will be a keepsake to cherish and pass down through generations.
